Overview and Objectives

Module Overview

In this module, we study criminal laws related to sexual misconduct and other crimes that involve harm to the person.  These offenses range from misdemeanors to felonies, and states vary on the required elements.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module you should be able to:

  1. Trace the history/development of rape from common law to contemporary statutes.
  2. Identify the required elements for rape, sodomy and sexual assault.
  3. Distinguish between the required elements for battery and assault.
  4. Distinguish between false imprisonment and kidnapping offenses.
  5. Identify the required elements for stalking/harassment and domestic violence.
