Web Savvy -- General Guide: DOAJ (Directory of Open Acces Journals)

A multi-page tutorial on evaluating web sites, for beginners and those who think they know.

Searching Cell Phones with DOAJ

DOAJ logo

DOAJ stands for the Directory of Open Access Journals. On DOAJ's clean, orange and white home page, is a search box similar to both Google's and the one on the library web page.

DOAJ search box loaded and ready to search Cell Phones

If you search for "cell phone*" (The "quotes" make cell phone into a phrase, and the * allows single and plural.), you get a variety of results.

Sample of DOAJ results

Many of the journals are international, and some articles are not in English. There is no way to limit by language without losing the rest of your search, and you will have to decide whether what happens in a foreign country applies to the United States or the Atlanta area. The upside of DOAJ is that all articles are free and full text.
