This page has some help resources for using various data analysis software as well as some resources on how to do data analysis.

SPSS Statistical Analysis Software


SPSS is on ALL of the University Library computers - it's listed as IBM SPSS.

Other access options:

  • SPSS is currently available for free download to GSU faculty, staff, and student personally-owned computers. Instructions for downloading are available at the following links: Windows | Mac 

    • If you downloaded SPSS from the GSU OnTheHub/Kivuto page prior to August 31, 2021, you will need to retrieve and enter the new 2022 authorization code:

      • Go back to the GSU OnTheHub/Kivuto page (where you downloaded the software)
      • In the top right corner click your email/account name > click Your Account/Orders
      • Find SPSS in list of your Orders & Downloads > click View Details button
      • Look for the authorization code
      • Follow remaining steps for entering the authorization code listed in campus IT's Instructions: Windows | Mac 
    • If you have issues with installing SPSS, please contact campus IT at help@gsu.edu

  • Via the vLab virtual desktop environment
    • If you're off-campus, you'll also need to download and login to the VPN.
    • The vLab allows a maximum of 300 concurrent users.
  • Students can purchase the SPSS GradPack version at a discounted price from the University System of Georgia (USG) Technology Store
    • After creating an account and logging in, click the ‘For Home’ option and click Brand, and you’ll see SPSS listed.
    • Click the SPSS icons until you get to the main SPSS record page, scroll to and click the linked text in the Overview section referring to purchasing, click which GradPack version is desired, and then there’s a range from Base to Standard to Premium versions and duration of license.

Stata is on ALL of the University Library computers.

NVivo Qualitative Data Analysis Software

NVivo is on ALL of the library's Windows computers.

NVivo is also available for free download to GSU faculty, staff, and students' personal computers from the GSU Software download page.

Tableau Data Visualization Software

Tableau Public is available on all of the library's computers.

Tableau Desktop and Tableau Public are available on CURVE workstations.

Download options:

  • Tableau Public - it's free!
  • Tableau for Students - Tableau offers one-year Tableau Desktop licenses to students at accredited academic institutions
  • Tableau for Teaching - Tableau offers one-year Tableau Desktop licenses for teaching and non-commercial academic research
