LibChat training and documentation

About LibStaffer

The library uses ths Springshare application LibStaffer to manage the chat schedule. (Atlanta Campus also uses it for the reference desk schedule.) If you need a LibStaffer account set up, contact Ann Mallard.

From LibStaffer, you can view the schedule, request swaps and see open shifts that need covering.

LibStaffer essentials

1. When you log into LibStaffer, you'll see a list of your upcoming assigned shifts.

2. Use the "GIve Up" button to indicate that you can't work an assigned shift.

3. Use the "Swap" button to propose a shift trade. (You can arrange it with someone beforehand, or just send a request by clicking the button.) You'll get a list of people available to swap, and the person you select will receive a request email that they can confirm or decline.

You are still responsible for given up or swapped shifts until someone agrees to cover them.

4. Click the Open Shifts tab to see upcoming shifts that need coverage. Click the Claim button next to an open shift to add it to your schedule.

Connect LibStaffer to Outlook

To automatically add your chat shifts to your Outlook calendar:

1. Click your email address at the top right of LibStaffer to manage your account.

2. Click the Calendar Sync tab.

3. Under "OAuth2 Authorization," click the blue "Authorize with Micosoft Account" button.

4. Sign into your GSU Outlook account on the following page. You may be asked to grant permission for LibStaffer or LibApps to access your calendar (like this). Click Yes to agree.

5. On the Libstaffer page under OAuth2 Authorization, choose your default Outlook calendar under the "Calendar to sync shifts with" menu. (You may only have one calendar to choose here; mine is called simply "Calendar" in the screenshot below.) Click "Save Calendars."

6. Click the blue Run the Export button to import your existing shifts into your Outlook calendar. You only need to do this once.

From now on, your chat schedule in Libstaffer will automatically appear in your Outlook calendar. Make sure to enter any swaps into LibStaffer to keep your own schedule and the master schedule current.
