Bibliographic Management Systems

Zotero (pronounced "zoh-TAIR-oh") is a browser add-on that collects, manages, and cites research sources. It's easy to use, lives in your web browser where you do your work, and best of all it's free. Zotero allows you to attach PDFs, notes and images to your citations, organize them into collections for different projects, and create bibliographies.  Download Zotero here.  Please see the Zotero research giude for more information.

EndNote is a widely-used bibliographic reference software program that can help you organize your citations. It is free to Georgia State faculty, staff and students through GSU IT.  Please see the EndNote research guide for more information.

How Can We Help You?

As the subject librarians for Health Informatics, Nursing,  Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Public Health, and Respiratory Therapy we offer a variety of services to faculty and students, including:

  • General library orientation (Interlibrary loan, website overview, databases, searching the catalog, borrowing privileges, etc.)
  • Consult on assignments and creation of research guides specifically tailored to your syllabi content (e.g. Writing Literature Reviews.)
  • Create online tutorials for relevant databases (e.g. PubMed Basics).
  • Classroom and one-on-one research instruction and/or consultations
    • Searching medical literature (PubMed, CINAHL, etc.).
    • Bibliographic Management Systems (e.g. Zotero and EndNote).
    • Help students develop information literacy skills and learn how to find and evaluate appropriate resources for their research.
  • Work with you on purchase recommendations.
  • Assist with systematic reviews.
  • Assist with promotion and tenure preparation.
  • Add a link to the library or a research guide in iCollege!

You are also welcome to book the CURVE space for classes, presentations, or student presentations.

Please contact your librarian (see profiles at right) if you would like to schedule library instruction session for a class or if you have any questions about how we can help you and your students.  Sessions can be taught in your classroom or in the library.

Library Services in iCollege

Help your students find quality information resources by integrating library resources and services into your iCollege course.  Add a link in your course content to a course research guide.  Research guides point students to library resources that are useful for a particular course and course assignments and provide instruction on using the resources.  Here's an example of a research guide on Literature Reviews in the Health and Social Sciences.
