To connect to LibChat, click the Sign In link at the top right of your LibAnswers dashboard. LibChat opens in a new window.
Make sure sound and desktop notifications are turned on so you can minimize the LibChat window without missing chats.
You may wish to briefly touch base with the person you're relieving when you log in for your chat shift. Let them know that you're ready to take over.
They can let you know of any situations that came up during their shift -- a patron that may return for more help, an assignment that's generating questions, or anything else that's going on.
This isn't required, but it's good practice.
Click an individual's name to chat with just them, or click the "All GSU Staff" link to chat with everyone currently logged in.
At the end of your shift, click the OFFLINE button to disconnect.
Closing the browser window without first going offline may leave you still logged in.
