Google Scholar

Setting up Google Scholar to search GSU paid content

  1. Open Google Scholar
  2. Click the menu bar in the upper left (It looks like three horizontal lines.)
  3. Click settings (The icon for this looks like a gear)
  4. Choose Library links
  5. Search for Georgia State University, select, and save it.
  6. Once you have some search results, you will see the FindIt@GSU button to the right of many of your results. You might have to click the arrow for more options underneath each search result to see it.

Seaching in Google Scholar

  • It says the search best with keywords, but I’ve often had good luck typing in all kinds of stuff
  • No peer review filter
  • No filter for empirical articles
  • It helps to look for the journal name under the title in each result
  • The cite tool works well, but you still need to check it against a style guide
