Student Success Resources: Stress

Stress

Being able to identify and manage the stresses in your life will help you be more successful. Recognizing and getting help is the first step to becoming a healthy and productive person.

Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. Work/school stress, issues with abuse (substance/physical/sexual) and relationships issues are universal life experiences.

Emergency Situations
If you have a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately.

On campus, call Public Safety at 404-413-3333 or Campus Dispatch 404-416-4357 for assistance.

If you have a non-life-threatening mental health concern, call the Counseling Services Access Line at 770-278-1300 (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). After regular business hours, call the Georgia Crisis and Access Line at 1-800-715-4225 any time 24 hours, seven days a week.

If you are in severe distress and think that you may harm yourself or someone else, go to the nearest hospital emergency room, call 911 or contact Public Safety at 404-413-3333.

Limits of Confidentiality: Under normal circumstances, information disclosed in counseling is strictly confidential. In emergency situations, it is sometimes necessary to disclose information for the protection of those involved (see American Counseling Association Code of Ethics, B.2.a.).
