How do I find it?

STEP 1: Check if Article is available FULL TEXT/ONLINE

ARTICLE - FULL TEXT/ONLINE

  1. On library's homepage > in Search Within dropdown menu select Journals.
  2. Type title of Journal/Magazine/Newspaper in search field > click SEARCH button.
  3. If title is listed, click the Online access link.  *If not listed, go to steps in next box - STEP 2: Check if Article is available in PRINT/HARD COPY*
  4. Look for "Full text available at:" link fitting your year/volume/issue needs, and click to access the Journal/Magazine/Newspaper.
  5. Find and drill down to the specific year, volume, and issue in which the article you need is published.
  6. Browse the list of Articles within that specific Journal/Magazine/Newspaper issue till you find the one you need, and click full text/PDF links to see full article.

STEP 2: Check if Article is available in PRINT/HARD COPY

ARTICLE - PRINT/HARD COPY

  1. On library's homepage > in Search Within dropdown menu select Journals.
  2. Type title of Journal/Magazine/Newspaper in search field > click SEARCH button.
  3. In the GIL-Find catalog results, look for the Journal/Magazine/Newspaper title, and click on the title to go to the catalog record. *If not listed, go to steps in next box - STEP 3: Request the Article via ILLiad Interlibrary Loan*
  4. Look in the Get It area to see if we have in print the specific year/volume/issue you need.
  5. Write down the Location - e.g., Library North 3 (Bound Periodical Shelves, Non-Circulating) - and the Call Number - e.g., Per. F1219 .L37
  6. Find the Journal/Magazine/Newspaper volume on the shelf (or reel in microfilm), and photocopy or scan the specific article you need.

STEP 3: Request the Article via ILLiad Interlibrary Loan

ARTICLE VIA INTERLIBRARY LOAN  

  1. Go to the ILLiad interlibrary loan system.
  1. Use your CampusID and password to login. First time users may be prompted for contact information.
  2. Once you are logged in, click the New Request dropdown menu and click Article.
  3. Fill in the required fields, and click Submit Request button at bottom of form. 
  4. When the article has arrived (typically within 1-2 days), you'll receive an email linking you to the ILLiad system. Login with your CampusID and password, and then under the Electronically Received Articles you'll see the article you requested.
  5. Download and either save or print the article (they only remain within ILLiad for 30 days).
