PMAP 8321: Economic Development Policy

Years of work by the I-14 Coalition and other supporters of Interstate 14 has paved that way for a future I-14 to serve local and cross-country travel.

The TxDOT Bryan District is studying the future I-14 Central Texas Corridor, which generally follows US 190 eastward from Rogers in Bell County to Huntsville in Walker County. This Study will determine the feasibility of a corridor and route for a roadway facility that meets interstate standards.

TxDOT is involving the public in the beginning stages of planning for the interstate.

The Texas Department of Transportation has proposed building an interstate highway through Martin Dies Jr. State Park, a 705 acre state park in East Texas located near the convergence of the Neches and Angelina Rivers in Jasper and Tyler counties. The proposal is part of a larger plan to significantly expand Interstate 14.

Texas enacted its FY 2024-2025 biennial budget in June 2023. The budget reported $144 billion in general fund spending and $321.3 billion in total spending over the two-year period, an increase of 11 and 6 percent over the previously enacted biennial budget, respectively. Texas also passed a package of property tax cuts in calendar year 2023.
