SimplyAnalytics

A web-based mapping application that creates professional thematic maps and reports using data variables covering demographics, employment, housing, market segments, business, consumer spending, brand preferences, and public health. Note: Patrons are not required to create an account but can "Sign in as a guest" (in the Sign In box, under the "Create an Account" button). Your work will not be saved if you sign in as a guest.

Social Explorer

A U.S. demographics website providing access to current and historical census data and demographic information; users can create maps and reports to illustrate, analyze, and understand demography and social change.  

Locating a specific article

If you have a citation for a specific article from other sources such as a syllabus, other articles, or textbooks, use the Citation Linker to check availability by clicking the Article tab and entering the citation information.

If you find that we do not have the article you are seeking, no worries. You can request such articles through our Interlibrary Loan service. It's free, and most articles come within 24 hours on business days. If you are ever unsure of availability, contact Brenna for help.

Nursing Education

The Southwest Georgia Area Health Education Center in Albany, GA has The Health Careers in Georgia Manual. It is an excellent resource for Georgia educational programs for over 60 health careers. This is a BIG pdf file. The Nursing careers and degree programs are found on pages 60 - 68 of the manual. Contact information for the listed Colleges/ Universities are located at the back of the manual, pages 108 - 117.

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing is an accrediting body whose database allows one to search for nursing programs.

CINAHL Plus with Full Text: Nursing and Allied Health
Description: CINAHL® Plus with Full Text is a comprehensive source of full text for nursing & allied health journals. CINAHL Plus with Full Text also contains Evidence-Based Care Sheets and Quick Lessons & Search Strategies.

PubMed
The PubMed search system provides access to the PubMed database of bibliographic information, which is drawn primarily from MEDLINE and PreMEDLINE. In addition, for participating journals that are indexed selectively for MEDLINE, PubMed includes all articles from that journal, not just those that are included in MEDLINE. Finally, PubMed also provides access to the molecular biology databases included in NCBI's Entrez retrieval system. It is expected that access to additional National Library of Medicine databases will be added in the future.

Web of Science provides seamless access to the Science Citation Expanded®, Social Sciences Citation Index®, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index™ as well as Book Citation Index and Conference Proceedings Citation Index.

MEDLINE with Fulltext
MEDLINE (with Full Text) (at EBSCOhost) combines the National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database with the complete text of articles from nearly 90 leading medical journals. This authoritative database offers information related to the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and preclinical sciences. MEDLINE with Full Text includes: -the complete MEDLINE file of citations to articles from 1966 to the present -links from MEDLINE citations to full-text articles from 90 journals 1990 to the present -images available for all titles dating as far back as January 1997 -MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree numbers, tree hierarchy and explosion capabilities to search abstracts from current biomedical journals, citations from Index Medicus, the International Nursing Index and the Index to Dental Literature.

Health Source: Nursing
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition provides nearly 520 scholarly full-text journals focusing on nursing, allied health fields, and many medical disciplines as well as abstracts and indexing for over 550 journals. Also included are the USP Pharmacopoeia DI: Volume II Advice for the Lay Patient and Stedman's Medical Dictionary.

Cochrane Library
The Cochrane Library is a unique source of reliable and up-to-date information on the effects of interventions in health care. Published on a quarterly basis, it is designed to provide information and evidence to support decisions taken in health care and to inform those receiving care.

BioMed Central
BioMed Central is an independent publishing house committed to providing immediate free access to peer-reviewed biomedical research. All the original research articles in journals published by BioMed Central are immediately and permanently available online without charge or any other barriers to access. This commitment is based on the view that open access to research is central to rapid and efficient progress in science and that subscription-based access to research is hindering rather than helping scientific communication. All research articles and most other content in BioMed Central's journals are fully and rapidly peer-reviewed. BioMed Central's portfolio of over 100 journals ranges from the highly selective, general interest Journal of Biology, which publishes both online and in print, to a range of specialist online only journals.

Academic Search Complete 
Academic Search Complete provides complete coverage of multidisciplinary academic journals. The collection includes peer-reviewed journals, full-text periodicals, reports, and books, for STM research, the Social Sciences, Humanities, and other areas of academic studies. PDF content dates back as far as 1887.

Geriatrics
AgeLine focuses exclusively on the population aged 50+ and issues of aging. AgeLine is the premier source for the literature of social gerontology and includes aging-related content from the health sciences, psychology, sociology, social work, economics, and public policy. AgeLine also includes information for professionals working in aging-related fields and for consumers. AARP generates original abstracts for every citation, with index terms drawn from AgeLine's Thesaurus of Aging Terminology. AgeLine indexes over 600 journals, books, book chapters, reports, dissertations, consumer guides, and educational videos. Designed for researchers, professionals, students, and general consumers, this database addresses aging issues from individual, national, and global perspectives.
