Students majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing or Literature must take Engl 3040: Introduction to Literary Studies which is a Critical Thinking Through Writing (CTW) course. Majors with a concentration in Secondary Education will take a version of Engl 3040 geared toward education, starting Summer 2012. This course covers materials, methods, and terminology used in the discipline of literary studies. Students are provided practice in effective critical writing and examination of the various critical theories available for interpretation and analysis.
