GPC Libraries Reference Committee: Committee Sponsored Surveys and Projects

Enhancing iCollege with Library Resources Survey

In 2010, Librarians surveyed faculty to assess use of and awareness of library resources and services.  Faculty were asked if services offered were helpful and asked for additional suggestions.  A follow up assessment was conducted in Fall 2011 to compare results to see if awareness of and use of online resources had increased.

Comments and the survey data indicate that the library should improve faculty awareness of services and offerings to strengthen the use of the library and its resources by students.

One benefit from conducting the survey was its promotional impact for the library and library services. The survey tool itself helped to raise faculty awareness of specific library services available for both faculty and their students. New contact opportunities were created as faculty responded to the survey. Many class specific research guides were created as a result. The reference committee evaluated all resources suggested as additions to the library collection in the comments section of the survey.
