The United Nations

The United Nations, created in 1945 and comprised of 191 member countries, is composed of the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Secretariat, and the International Court of Justice (World Court) along with the UN System -- twelve independent organizations or "specialized agencies" such as the International Monetary Fund plus a host of UN offices, programs, and funds such as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
