Databases-Finding Articles
- IEEE Xplore (1988+)

IEEE Xplore (Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET)) provides full-text access to technical literature in electrical engineering, computer science, and electronics. Updated: Weekly. - ACM Digital Library (1985+)

ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Digital Library provides full-text access to journals, transactions, magazines, conference proceedings, and newsletters covering most topics in computer science. Updated: Monthly (varies). - Books 24x7 (Years: Varies by title)

Access to web-based digital technical and business reference books, journals, research reports. - EBSCOhost-Computer Science Index (1960+)

Access to the EBSCO (Elton B. Stephens Company) databases, including Academic Search Complete and the Computer Science Index (going back to the mid. 1960's). Updated: Daily. - SpringerLink (Years: Varies by Title)
SpringerLink allows to access STM (Science, Technology & Medicine) journals, book series, books, reference works and the Online Archives Collection. Updated: Daily. - Journal Citation Reports (IMPACT FACTORS)

Journal Citation Reports (JCR, provided by Thomson Reuters) contains Impact Factors (IF) for journals. Covers > 7,500 of the world's most highly cited, peer-reviewed journals in over 200 disciplines. Updated: Annually, usually midyear.
Library Basics
1. Library ID & PantherCard
Your Library ID has 7 characters starting with either a S, O or E and is found at the back of your PantherCard. You can also look up your Library ID.
Use your Library ID to:
- ACCESS your Library (GIL) Account → to renew your library books, check/cancel your requests, get GALILEO password, and manage your library account.
-
ACCESS your Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) Account → to request items like journal articles. Note, requests via ILLiad are in your ILLiad account and not your GIL library account.
- USE your PantherCard → to check out books from Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and other University System of Georgia Libraries. Note, books borrowed from other University Libraries can be returned to GSU library.
- ACCESS Desktop Article Delivery (FACULTY ONLY).
2. Campus ID & Password
Your campus ID & Password is the same what you use for uLearn or GoSOLAR (students) or EasyView (Faculty & Staff). Activate your campus ID (or change password) via the Campus ID Help.
Use your Campus ID/Password to:
- Login to any library computer
- Off-campus access to electronic resources (e.g., databases)
- Download EndNote
3. Full Text Articles & Databases
Databases contain articles and often include the full article or just the citation. You will also see the Find It @GSU button next to the citation, ![]()

You can search Goggle Scholar for "Full Text@GSU" off-campus:
1. Go to Google Scholar http://scholar.google.com/
2. Click on "Scholar Preferences."
3. Scroll down to "Library Links" and type "Georgia State University" to select the University.

eTraining or web-based training consists of modularized training courses, available over the web (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel (2003 & 2007), MS Powerpoint, MS Access, MS Office 2007: New Features, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Fireworks Grammar Essentials, Financial Basics for Non-financial Managers, and others). It is FREE to GSU students, faculty, and staff.
