When you write a research paper, you will need to include information about the sources you used. This information is used to create the citation which is collected in the bibliography.
Guides on formating research papers (including bibliographies) are known as style guides or manuals. Different disciplines require different style manuals. Make sure you use the style guide recommended by your Professor.
American Political Science Association
APA Style (style of the American Psychological Association and the social sciences)
Chicago Style (style for the humanities and some social science disciplines)
MLA Style (style of the Modern Language Association)
