Ernest Duncan, for “Develop an In-House Coaching Practice” – professional development funds to become a CliftonStrengths coach for the library.
Jennie Law, for “Support Materials for Comics History Research” – purchase research materials to continue her work on comics history research.
2020:
Jose F. Rodriguez, for “Librarians Across Institutions: Establishing Outreach Programs.” This project will gather data from outreach librarians at different universities to examine factors that support and hinder effective outreach programs.
Amy Stalker and Karen Doster-Greenleaf, for “Senior Citizen Smartphone Training.” This study will use pre- and post-test data to assess the effectiveness of a training program for senior citizens wishing to improve their smartphone skills. It will include developing a workbook to use in these workshops.
Jeremy Walker, for “Evaluating Methods for Identifying In-Group Label Use in Social Media.” This study will use Twitter data to analyze communications among a selected community. In addition to providing information about the community, the study will pilot techniques for large-scale data collection and aggregation that can be used to develop workshops offered by Research Data Services.
2019:
Jennie Law, for research on the Lowndes County Freedom Organization, its influence on the creation of Marvel’s Black Panther, and the intersection of civil rights and comic books more broadly.
Raeda Anderson, for a study examining, within a biopsychosocial framework, the relationship between social interaction, the built environment, and mental health outcomes for people with physical disabilities.
