GSU LIBRARY CATALOG

The online catalog that searches GSU Library holdings is called GIL-Find.

  • From the main library home page (library.gsu.edu), click on the "Catalog" tab and enter keywords to search.
  • Note that the default is to search only those items that are at GSU Libraries (including e-books and e-resources):

  •  You can change the scope of your search to include all schools in the University System of Georgia. Through a free service called GilExpress, we can get books for you from other schools in the University System of Georgia.

Search Tips:
  • Use quotes to search for phrases:
    • "Arab Spring"
  • Use * for wild card searches:
    • politic* will return politics, political, and politicize
  • Use AND and OR to narrow or broaden your search. Note: AND and OR must be typed in ALL caps:
    • liberty AND freedom - to retrieve results that include both terms
    • liberty OR freedom - to retrieve results that contain either term
  • You can create more complex searches by using the words AND, OR, NOT, in combination with parentheses:
    • "Arab SpringAND (Egypt OR Syria)

checking out books

Retrieve physical books or items yourself from GSU libraries. For Atlanta campus, use the floor maps to help you find your items. At any GSU library, ask for assistance at a user services desk if you need help.

Checking out books requires a Panther ID and a library account in good standing.

Please pay careful attention to due dates when you check out items.
