Guide Description & Courses

Students majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing  must take Engl 3040: Introduction to Literary Studies which is a Critical Thinking Through Writing (CTW) course (see Introduction to Literary Studies guide.) In this course students are provided practice in effective critical writing and examination of the various critical theories available for interpretation and analysis. Creative Writing students also take either  Engl 4310A Senior Seminar: Workshop in Poetry-CTW (3) Writing and critique of student work at an advanced level or Engl 4310B Senior Seminar: Workshop in Fiction-CTW (3) Writing and critique of student work at an advanced level. This guide provides students with an introduction to library and potential publishing resources.

MLA Directory of Periodicals

Use the MLA Directory of Periodicals found in the MLA International Bibliography to find out information about periodicals such as the New England Review. You can get information such as how to submit an article or the journal web page. You can also use another database, Ulrichsweb to find information about a periodical.
