Ceramic Artist Research Slide Presentation

For this assignment, you will create a slide presentation with responses to a list of questions in the rubric below about a ceramics artist you have chosen.

  • Ceramic artist: find a ceramic artist you want to research.  The chosen artist should have done work within the last 100 years. 
  • Research the artist using the internet, book, or magazines (Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated, Ceramic Review).  They are available in the GSU library website.  Artaxis will be a good resource as well.    
  • Attach images of the artist’s artwork. (more than three photos)
  • Make a PowerPoint to have an oral presentation.  Since there is no projector in the studio, bring your laptop or a USB drive. Prepare an 8-10 minutes long presentation.

2# Short Response Questions. Answers should be three to five complete sentences for each question. Total = 60 points

  1.  What initially interested you in this artist’s work? (10 points)
  2. How does this artist use clay to create and/or decorate their ceramic forms? (10 points)
  3. How does this artist use, or not use, glaze to decorate their ceramic forms? (10 points)
  4. What new skills or techniques have you learned about from this artist and/or their work? (10 points)
  5. How will the things you have learned about this artist influence the work you will make in the future? (10 points)
