Widgets Examples: How to add pre-built widget

How to add pre-built widget to your LibGuides page

  1. Click +Add Box - Column [x] in the column of your guide in which you would like to display the chat and other widgets. Enter the Box Name, select the Type and Position. Alternatively, you can select an existing box and add the widget to it.
  2. Choose Media/Widget from the Add/Reorder dropdown.

  3. Click the Reuse Existing Widget tab.
  4. Type the widget name to search and then select the desired widget (with matching id and owner). E.g.
  • Chat widget: Type the widget name in the search box "Chat ...", select the one with ID #7444822 for embedded or ID #24044883 for button
  • FAQ link and Contact: Type the widget name in the search box " FAQ & Contact", select the one with ID #8356301"
  • Hours: Type the widget name in the search box "Hours", select the one with ID #23569459 for Hours Only, ID #6617401 for Library Hours & Contact", ID #14442852 for Hours Link & Contact.
  • You can combine multiple widgets in one box, but can't use multiple calendar on one page.
  • See the examples in the other tabs.

Mapping to the original widget in Assets List is recommended. To map widget, DO NOT CHECK the Make a copy of this ... checkbox. Checking this box will create a copy of the widget and not a mapped one. Copied widget does not receive any changes or updates made to the original widget.

When you reuse exiting widget, a mapped copy appears on your guide. You cannot edit mapped widgets. If you try, it tells you it is a Mapped Asset with its ID. Please let me know if you need help in finding an appropriate widget or creating additional ones.
