Article searching in databases
The resources listed to the left (with the exception of ABI Inform and Google Scholar) are all EBSCO products. The EBSCO interface is very user-friendly and was upgraded in Summer 2008 to offer even more functionality. The guide below discusses how to search in these databases and how to search more than one database at a time for better time management! Contact me if you have further questions in using any of these databases or need some guidance with relevant keywords for your topic.
Accessing Print and Full-Text Articles
Article databases sometimes houses the full article, and sometimes only the citation information (article title, journal title, volume, issue, year, etc.) is available.
Often, if the article text isn't included along with the citation, you'll see this Find It @GSU button instead. Click the button to find out if GSU Library has subscription access to the article you are seeking.
If it is available online, the 1st link in the Find It @ GSU window will state Full Text Online. Clicking this will take you to the article, or the journal, in which case it will just take a few clicks to get to your article.
If we don't have the article online the 1st link in the Find It @ GSU window will state We May Have a Copy in Print. Clicking this will take you to the catalog record of the journal. Refer back to your citation to locate the issue you need. Journals are library-use only, but copies of articles can be made in the library using the library copiers which take cash and/or PantherCash.
Finding Articles by Journal
- E-Journal Locator This page searches electronic journals by title with Find It @ GSU links provided, and keyword is possible as well if very broad.
- GIL Catalog print and electronic journal records are available here.
