An eBook is an electronic version of a traditional print book; e-books; e books

eBooks on EBSCOhost

  • Available to GSU faculty, students, and staff.
  • The number of simultaneous users varies from one to unlimited depending on the individual book.
  • Allows you to view the entire book online.
  • Most allow you to email up to 60 pages of the book in PDF or html format. Some allow more or less pages.
  • The entire book can be downloaded for a specified check-out period after the initial set up process. 

Linking to eBooks on EBSCOhost

  • The permalink option in eBooks on EBSCOhost will link to the page that you have open when you click on the Permalink option.
  • Be sure that the book you use for an entire class allows for unlimited use.

Downloading from EBSCO eBook Collection directly to your iPad

There's a few steps here, but you only have to go through the initial process once. Then, it's quick and easy to download:

1: Install Bluefire for Apple
2: Sign into your EBSCO account or set up an EBSCO account:

From the homepage of the EBSCO eBook Collection database, click "sign in" in the upper right corner.  Then select "create a new account" a little lower on the right.

3: Select a book that you would like to download
4. If the download option is available, click the download offline button
5.  It will prompt you to open in bluefire
6. Bluefire will prompt you to activate Adobe and to register for an Adobe account if you do not have one.
 

Downloading EBSCO eBooks to the Kindle Fire

Currently, the Kindle Fire is the only Kindle device that allows you to download full eBooks.

If you have a regular Kindle, you can send saved eBook pages in PDF format using Amazon's Send to Kindle options.
