Citation Manager Tools
Endnote is a widely used bibliographic reference software program that can help you organize your citations. It is free to Georgia State faculty, staff and students. Just click on the link for the download and guides to help you in setting up and managing your Endnote library and using Endnote with GSU University Library resources.
Endnote and EBSCO databases provide a seamless connection between locating articles and exporting the citations into your Endnote library.
To export citations from an EBSCO database search into your Endnote library:
- Open your Endnote library in a separate browser window.
- click Add Folder within each citation you are selecting
- click Folder View (see the Articles tab for more information on EBSCO database searching).
- select the citations you would like to Export
- click on the Paper Icon (the last icon image) which will take you to the Export Manager page.
- click Save and the citation will automatically go into your Endnote library.
- Within your Endnote library you can change the citation style (i.e. APA) as needed.
Please contact me with general questions about using Endnote with EBSCO databases or other resources. For more technical questions, you may contact Joel Glogowski, Learning Commons Librarian.
If you'd prefer a free, web-based alternative, try Zotero. It also organizes bibliographic citations and requires Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or greater. Go to the hyperlink for free downloads of Zotero and Firefox 3.0 along with how to use. If you have technical questions, contact Jason Puckett, Instruction Librarian for User Education Technologies.
