It has recently been announced that the state is closing the Georgia Archives to the public beginning on November 1.

The National Coalition for History has suggested talking points for contacting Georgia state officials.r

Commemorating the Emancipation Proclamation

To help commemorate the 150th anniversay of the Emancipation Proclamationm, the National Endowment for the Humanities has created the NEH Emancipation Resource Portal.

This online resource portal contains relevant essays, lesson plans from NEH's website EDSITEment!, an interactive timeline with links to NEH-funded films and interactive websites, and instructions for teachers and community members on how to host watch parties for a streamed series of events on National Constitution Day, September 17th, 2012.
