Use this guide to learn how to evaluate information you find on the internet. Adapted from the McHenry County College Library, Georgia Gwinnett College, and the Georgia Perimeter College RSCH 1203 textbook.


A source may be authoritative, accurate, current and unbiased - but it still may not be right for your research. Use these questions to decide whether a source is relevant for your work.

Which of the following statements is true about the website you are evaluating?

 The source is unrelated to the research topic.

 The source is related to the topic, but the information is not very useful.

 The information is somewhat useful, possibly as overview or background.

 The information is very useful.
