A guide to searching medical literature using PubMed, the MEDLINE search engine from the National Library of Medicine.

What is NCBI?

NCBI is the National Center for Biotechnology InformationSetting up a free NCBI account allows you to personalize PubMed:

  • Save collections of results from searches (the clipboard only holds results for 8 hours).

  • Save your searches and set up email alerts that can be set to automatically run against database updates.

  • Customize personal preferences like filters and display settings.

Login to NCBI through GSU

You can use your GSU CampusID and password to sign into your NCBI account.

  • On the Sign-In menu, choose "See more 3rd party sign in options".
  • Choose "Georgia State University".
  • This should direct you to a regular GSU CampusID login page. Use your normal CampusID and password.
  • Welcome to your "My NCBI" page.
